Creative collaboration about local governance in Mandalay

A creative collaboration between researchers at Yone Kyi Yar (a social research organisation in Mandalay), artists, and graphic designers led to the production of a series of watercolours, used to illustrate a report about local governance in Sagaing township. Doing so has helped the research team engage more meaningfully with politicians about the views of local residents, and advocate for deeper democracy. The artwork exhibited at the Ahnu Thutaythana Festival in Yangon in December 2019, as part of the ‘Reducing inequalities in public engagement’ project.
