Interviews with Rohingya refugees provide first-person insights into their aspirations, including the desire for legal citizenship and safety – one being useless without the other. In this article, Nasir Uddin reflects on the status and challenges, and the solutions advanced by, some of the 1.3 million Rohingya living in Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh, as part of his project exploring Rohingya identity through time and space.
