At this webinar organised by SOAS and the University of Oxford, international partnerships were discussed. How can we improve relationships between research organisations and researchers working in international coalitions? In several presentations and ensuing debate a wide range of topics came up – reflexivity, collaboration, trust, communication, assumptions about knowledge, power relations, money, language, and bureaucracy – making it clear that if UK universities are serious about being better partners, then hard work is involved. A good place to start is the assumption that while resources are unevenly distributed globally, an abundance of talent and creativity are found in every place. Emma Crewe gave a talk about partnership within the Global Research Network on Parliaments and People (from around 19 minutes).
